HOT TRESSES PROVES TRUE BEAUTY IS CRUELTY-FREE

Shot by talented local photographer Lee Calleja-Thomas, Hot Tresses has demonstrated there’s no need to hurt a bunny to be beautiful with its latest campaign “Cruelty-Free & Coastal”, where every cosmetic product used in the photoshoot from toenails to hair was cruelty-free and vegan.

Makeup artist and Founder of Truly Cruelty Free Charada Hawley, who specialises in using only vegan and cruelty-free beauty products made up local model Phoebe Hill using a mixture of different brands, including Byron Bay nail polish brand Sienna, while stylist Bec Purcell used Gold Coast-made Hot Tresses products to wash and style Phoebe’s hair.

“Despite growing levels of awareness, the beauty industry is still very much dominated by major corporations who support the use of animal-derived ingredients and animal-testing,” Founder of Hot Tresses said.

“Choosing vegan beauty care, means sourcing products that are free from animal-derived ingredients.

“Familiarising yourself with common animalderived ingredients is one way to keep your cosmetics conscious, but it’ll be much easier once Charada launches her Truly Cruelty Free App.”

Charada is also the Founder of Truly Cruelty Free, which is a self-funded database listing conscious cosmetics. Charada is in the process of developing an App that takes the guesswork out of determining which beauty products are vegan and cruelty-free.

“I’m currently touring Northern NSW and the Gold Coast and I have to say, I am blown away by the innovation in vegan beauty, in particular with Hot Tresses, with which I’m pretty sure I have a life-long relationship,” Charada said.

“I feel like this coastal region in Australia is paving the way when it comes to cruelty-free cosmetics – it’s a space to watch and I’m excited to see future product development from this area.”

Hot Tresses first collaborated with Truly Cruelty Free on a vegan beauty competition during Hot Tresses’ official launch in December last year. Charada went on to review Hot Tresses and list it on Truly Cruelty Free.

Phoebe’s locks were crowned with a rosemary and wild flower garland made fresh the morning of the shoot and where possible, Phoebe was styled in local designers’ clothing.
